About the Project

Project Study Area

Meacham Road is a roadway that runs north-south in the Village of Schaumburg and Elk Grove Village in Cook County. The Meacham Road Bridge Over West Branch Salt Creek is located between Wise Road/Biesterfield Road and Schaumburg Road. The project study area is limited to the Meacham Road Bridge over West Branch Salt Creek. Any roadway improvements required will be related to the bridge replacement.

About the bridge

The existing Meacham Road Bridge spanning over West Branch Salt Creek is 42 feet long and approximately 40 years old. The bridge carries two lanes of traffic in each direction with a 16-foot median and sidewalks on both sides of the bridge. The sidewalk along the east side does not extend beyond the bridge limit. The bridge was originally constructed in 1932 and was reconstructed in 1983. A bridge rehabilitation was performed in 2009 and the last bridge inspection was conducted in March 2021.

Project Need

The Meacham Road Bridge has come to end of its service life. It has been identified as a high priority for replacement.
